From company information to credit decisions: Obin and Claude at Pinegrove Venture Partners

A new private credit opportunity brings a stack of information: management presentations, financial statements, forecasts, and diligence materials. The team needs to turn those materials into a clear credit assessment. This involves understanding the business, testing leverage and coverage, evaluating the downside, and determining what structure and terms make sense.
Obin’s work with Pinegrove Venture Partners brings these activities into a connected origination agentic process. The Obin Platform supplies the financial context, specialized agents, and workflow controls that support the team’s work.
The engagement also includes Anthropic’s Claude Cowork, in production at Pinegrove, which extends that context into the research, preparation, and communication surrounding a deal.
Starting with the work analysts already do
When a deal comes in, the team creates a workspace and brings together the materials it needs for underwriting.
Obin’s Deal Agent works with the documents and spreadsheets in that workspace to help produce the work that comes next: spreading historical financials, preparing a business overview, reviewing the capital structure, or drafting sections of a credit memo.
Analysts can ask questions about the underlying materials, examine the supporting information, and update work products as the deal develops.
The analyst still owns the underwriting. Less time spent gathering information, reformatting it, and rebuilding context across tools means more time to assess what the information says about the opportunity.
As the work progresses, the team can use the analysis to review pricing, develop proposed terms, and prepare the opportunity for approval. Reviewers can work through open questions with colleagues and approve a specific version of a proposal, keeping the analysis, discussion, and approval history tied to the deal.
Applying the firm’s underwriting framework with the Obin Platform
The quality of the work depends on how well the agents apply the firm’s approach to evaluating a deal.
The Obin Platform gives agents access to financial definitions, templates, analytical conventions, and firm-specific guidance. That can include the firm’s approach to leverage and coverage, industry-specific considerations, or the structure of a credit memo. Agents use those references alongside the borrower’s documents.
Two firms can look at the same information and reach different conclusions. The platform provides a way to bring each firm’s underwriting practices into the work its agents perform.
It also provides a shared foundation for configuring, evaluating, and operating those agents.
Obin tests its origination workflows against expert-labeled term sheets and checks outputs for missing or unsupported information. Versioning and approvals support review as the work moves toward a decision.
Pinegrove Venture Partners started with a controlled rollout to a subset of the private credit investment team, running Obin alongside its existing process and checking outputs against analysts’ own work, before expanding to the full team.
Obin now serves as a system of record for deal origination and approval, and Claude Cowork is in production alongside it.
Because the Obin Platform provides a shared foundation, firms can build additional financial workflows using the same governed knowledge, tools, and operating controls, adapting them to each new use case.
Extending deal context through Claude Cowork
A credit team’s work reaches beyond the deal workspace. Before a borrower meeting, an investment professional may need the latest underwriting, prior relationship history, recent emails, and internal notes.
Anthropic’s Claude Cowork gives users a way to delegate work that spans information sources and produces a finished deliverable.
Obin contributes the specialized financial context and capabilities developed through origination. With the relevant connections enabled, Claude can draw on that context alongside other company information to synthesize a briefing, organize outstanding questions, or prepare an internal update.
For example, someone preparing for a borrower discussion could combine Obin’s deal analysis with historical deal information and recent correspondence to produce a brief covering the proposed financing, open diligence questions, and topics to address in the meeting.
The value is practical. Work completed during underwriting becomes a starting point for the next task, while Claude helps turn the available context into something the team can use.
More capacity for investment judgment
With Obin’s origination solution in production, Pinegrove’s credit team reaches letter of intent (LOI) 70% faster than under its previous manual process, driven by automated document review, calculations, and memo drafting.
Faster turnaround is projected to lift the win rate by 25%.
Claude Cowork now builds on that foundation, carrying the same deal context into meeting preparation, briefings, and internal updates, so the time saved in underwriting extends into the rest of the deal process.
“Obin AI has successfully bridged the gap from baseline agentic AI outputs to production-grade performance. This has enabled us to confidently replace an existing workflow rather than merely drive incremental efficiencies. They have been true strategic partners to Pinegrove and we highly value their focus on accurate, repeatable results.”

The Obin Platform connects the information, analysis, and collaboration behind a credit decision. Claude Cowork extends the opportunity to put that financial context to work across the firm’s connected systems, helping teams carry what they have learned into the next discussion, deliverable, or decision.

Why Standard Application Controls Fail for AI Agents in Finance and How to Harden Them Using Architecture
AI agents break many assumptions behind traditional application security because they generate their own plans, operate on untrusted inputs, and can change behavior from one run to the next. The article argues that the answer is architectural: enforce identity, permissions, tool access, isolation, and approval in deterministic code outside the model, with controls applied to every individual tool call. Obin applies this approach to its Robins so the model can propose actions, but the runtime decides what is actually allowed.

Building an AI-Native Design System for Forward-Deployed Teams
Obin is building an AI-native design system that gives forward-deployed teams the flexibility to adapt workflows for individual customers without rebuilding the product each time. By combining shared tokens, reusable components, solution-level patterns, automated guardrails, and a path for proven customer work to flow back into the system, teams can prototype faster while keeping what they build maintainable and production-ready.
